Jellyfish Pictures at Manchester Animation Festival

The Manchester Animation Festival (MAF) is just around the corner starting on the 15th of November, the links are below for all the ways we are getting involved virtually this year. But first, did someone say ‘Award’?

MAF announced yesterday their nominees for the Industry Excellence Awards (IEA), celebrating artists in scriptwriting, storyboarding, designing, and animating, who each bring some of our favourite animated film, television and commercials to our screens.

Two of those nominees are Jellyfish Pictures’ own Catherine Salkeld and Federico Bernasconi for their work on Beano Studios and CBBC’s series two of Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed!, recognised in the Storyboard and Character Animation categories respectively. Up against some wonderfully, talented artists, whoever wins is well-deserved and all have a round of Jellyfish applause!

On the jury facing the difficult decision of choosing one artist per category this year, is Jellyfish Pictures’ Katri Valkamo and Ere Santos, Jasmine Phull and Jez Hall. All of which are also hosting IEA workshops taking place in November. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 26th November at 8 pm.

You can catch Ere deliver a Character Animation workshop to help you bring your work to its next level and have the chance to gain some insider tips. Jellyfish Art Director, Katri is also getting hands one with an interactive workshop on Character Design as she encourages you to draw and walks you through her design process for animation.
