We don’t usually like to gloat, but this marks a special occasion for Jellyfish Pictures as we have been shortlisted for three Broadcast Innovation Awards. With two nominations in Creative Excellence category, and the third for Excellence in Virtualisation. The awards, celebrate collaboration, innovation and creativity in production, post-production and broadcast.
Our first nomination is in the Creative Excellence category for the Best VFX Project for Netflix drama The Innocents. We are immensely proud of our work on The Innocents, working as a lead vendor, we took on over 150 shots with a team of 40, producing character shape-shifting effects. Nomination number two is in the same category, for our ground-breaking work on BBC 2’s two-part series - Neanderthal: Meet Your Ancestors. To create our Neanderthal, our team adapted and evolved our pipeline, building on previous CGI face replacement projects leading to stunning stylised animated sequences to direct live shoots. In this category, we are up against Lola Post Production, Milk Visual Effects, and Sky Atlantic/DNEG TV, for their work on The Planets, Good Omens and Chernobyl respectively.
Our third nomination is in the Cloud & Media Management category, where we have been shortlisted for Excellence in Virtualisation for our Co-Location Project. Thanks to our terrific partners Pixit Media, ERA, Microsoft Azure, and Teradici for their pioneering technology implemented; enabling remote collaboration and support for flexible working practices. All of our studios are completely operated in a PC over IP environment, with all technology and pipeline housed in a centrally based co-location. Our studios are able to virtualise their distributed workstations through Teradici’s remote visualisation solution; allowing for total flexibility and scalability.
