Jellyfish Pictures have teamed up with Speaker for Schools (S4S), an organisation that connects schools with influential business leaders for school talks and work experience, providing students with the opportunity to network with individuals who are at the top of their industry or field. S4S’ mission is to:
“…end educational inequality by giving all young people access to the same prestigious networks available to the top fee-paying schools in the UK.”
The service for the schools and students is offered completely for free and so far, S4S have reached over 600,000 students nationwide through their programme.
We were delighted to be asked by S4S to join, with our first school talk taking place at Saint Gabriel’s College in Lambeth. Our CEO, Phil Dobree and Senior Animator, Joel Airebamen began their presentation by questioning the students on whether they were considering a creative career – to which the response was slight. Their interest soon peaked, after Phil and Joel explained to them what exactly VFX and Animation entails and how they can enter the industry from all angles various subjects and interests. Our latest showreel, showcasing our work with Star Wars and Dennis and Gnasher, caught their attention and by the end of the talk many students raised their hands to show their new interest in considering VFX and Animation as a potential career.
At Jellyfish Pictures, we believe it is imperative for more business leaders to take part in organisations like S4S, to spark ambition and to support state schools. We are very much looking forward to continuing our work with S4S, and are very thankful for the opportunity to broaden horizons for schools and students.
