This year has certainly been full of surprises and we expect nothing less from the Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! gang to throw another one our way. Thankfully, the news is a BLAMTASTIC one, the Beanotown crew will be on the big screens across UK cinemas, just in time for school half-term. Perfect timing and the perfect Covid-safe activity for the little Dennis & Gnasher fans across the country to see their favourite characters in the cinema. Although, we must admit the news has brought out the inner child in us at Jellyfish, with a lot of our talent booking a ticket for themselves to see their work on the big screen.
Jellyfish Pictures have worked closely with Beano Studios and CBBC since 2016 bringing the famous-old Beano comic book characters to a 3D world, producing all 104 episodes for season 1 and 2. Season 2 saw Kitty Taylor, Series Director and Murray Truelove, CG Supervisor working collaboratively with Beano Studios and the BBC on early scripts to evolve the characters from the first instalment. Unbeknownst to them what was around the corner with Covid, three-quarters of the way through production, the whole project was moved to remote working. Adapting to the new way of working and maintaining “business as usual”, Jellyfish Pictures completed delivery on time with no disruption to quality.
The 70-minute cinema feature includes a new, never-before-seen episode of the CBBC series, Thumb Wars, along with six episodes from the recently aired season 2. We are an excited and proud Jellyfish bunch to be a part of the first cinematic experience of the Beano characters and continue to revel in the new season 2 episodes airing this winter.
